Frequently Asked Hostess Questions:

How Far In Advance Should I Plan My Trunk Show?
3-14 days in advance. We find the people know what they are doing 3-4 days from now. Plus, throwing a 90 minute Trunk Show is not like planning a wedding! It’s much easier than you might think!

 
How Many Guests Do I Need To Have?
We love Trunk Shows big and small, and are grateful for every chance we have to help meet and style guests and give them a peek at Stella and Dot. We do trunk shows for 8-10 or 30-40+. When you send out paper invites, followed up with reminder calls or facebook posts, you’ll get the best attendance. A good rule of thumb is to anticipate that 1/2 to 1/3 of the guests you invite will come.

 
What Should I Serve?
I recommend keeping refreshments super simple. You deserve a style-filled, fun event, not one spent in the kitchen! Many of your guests won’t eat anyway. Consider having cake and coffee/beverages or wine & cheese. There really isn’t a need for more. In fact, more can take away from your trunk show!

 
Is My Apartment Too Small?
Absolutely not! Our Trunk Shows are regularly held in studio apartments in NYC. If you have a kitchen counter top or coffee table, you’ll have all the space you need. We’re all about connecting with friends in a warm, personal environment; fancy locations are not the priority.

 
What If My Friends Can’t Make It?
You’ll never find the perfect date that everyone will be able to attend. Those who can’t make it can shop online, or if they are double booked during the time of your event, even having them just swing by for 15-20 minutes works!
I’m A Little Uncomfortable Asking My Friends To Buy Something In My Home. What If They Can’t Afford It?
I agree with you wholeheartedly! People should only buy things that they love and certainly should not feel pressured. From the minute we start, my goal is to make your guests feel welcome and comfortable and get to know Stella and Dot and get some styling advice in a NO pressure way. If someone doesn’t find something for themselves at your show, we hope they’ll tell a friend about Stella & Dot because of the wonderful experience they had. We find that because we have a variety and large range of price points and true style for a steal; people on all different budgets typically do find something they adore. Lastly, just don’t worry. When you invite people, friends will clearly know this is a shopping opportunity – if they want to come to shop – wonderful, socialize – fabulous! If they don’t want to come, they’ll often just skip which is no problem!
